Engineering Management
Engineering management is a module which runs fluently throughout all three years of the course. Term one of the module concentrates on concepts in systems engineering, i.e. looking at how any systems project need iterations for it to work and term two of the module concentrates on marketing. The second term is assessed by a twenty minute group presentation which will require you and your team to research and promote a new product of your choice. Engineering Management not only helps expand your organizational and presentational skills, but it will also help you interact with students within the entire engineering department. (Close window)

Mathematics Workshop
As you all should have an A-C in Mathematics at GCSE level you should not find this module too hard. The numbers may seem a little confusing at first, but stick with it and you will soon find those equations solving themselves. The module concentrates on functions and graphs, algebra, differentiation and integration (all terms you should know from high school!) with several pieces of coursework set along the term to test your understanding. Techniques of how to solve difficult equations and how to find the intercept on a graph will be reused in second year. (Close window)

Media Science
Is often deemed the hardest of the first year modules by students – Media Science looks at the physical aspect of the media. The sound intensity of an electrical signal, the differences between CD, DVD and Blue Ray and the lifeline of an AA battery are all issues which will be covered in the module. In class demonstrations by the lecturer as well as laboratory sessions will help you get a better understanding of the module. (Close window)
